The Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn’t keep track of Cannabis industry jobs. It’s a federal agency reporting on federally legal industries, after all, so despite the fact that over half the American population live in states that have legal medicinal or recreational cannabis, those working in the industry aren’t counted toward federal job numbers.
“There are now more than 211,000 cannabis jobs across the United States,” they write in their release, “More than 64,000 of those jobs were added in 2018. That’s enough people to fill Chicago’s Soldier Field, with 3,000 more tailgating outside.”
The biggie claim: “Legal cannabis is the greatest job creation machine in America.”
